Cosmetic Product FAQ

Is the order of using skin products important? Of course it is important. The skin has a barrier function that keeps out unwanted allergens, chemicals, dirt and pollutants.
However, this barrier function can also prevent the ingredients of beauty products from entering the skin and performing its functions.
If the products are not used in the correct order, you may not see the best results for skin care.

1. In what order should I use my cosmetic products?

In general, you can use the most dilute product first, then the thickest product, or start with a water-like product and then a cream-like product. Start with products that easily penetrate into the skin (such as antioxidant essence water) and end with products that need to stay on the skin (such as moisturizers).
The following is the recommended sequence for general daytime skin care. But please note that this only applies to general care procedures. For specific products or ointments, follow the instructions of the beautician or doctor.

2. How to do daytime skin care?

Skin care routines in the morning help protect our skin from irritants such as ultraviolet rays, pollutants and dust.

Step 1: Cleanser
In the morning, wash your face with a cleanser specially designed for your skin type. Rinse with water after cleaning.

Step 2: Toner
Toner has many uses. Each type of toner is aimed at different skin problems. Some can balance the pH of the skin after washing the face, and some make the antioxidant essence easier to absorb. It is important to use the correct type for your skin problems. However, some people may choose to skip the toner if they feel unnecessary.

Step 3: Antioxidant essence
Essence is a concentrated and nutritious treatment solution designed to solve different skin problems. Antioxidant essences such as vitamin C and vitamin E help improve skin texture and complexion. Containing moisturizing essence of hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5 provides rich moisturizing effect and repairs damaged skin barrier. New ingredients such as vitamin B3 (niacinamide) help reduce redness.

Step 4: Eye Cream
Eye cream helps maintain the health of the eye skin. Improve the quality of the eye skin and ensure that the eye skin maintains an elastic and smooth appearance.

Step 5: Moisturizer
Although your facial skin has its own natural lubrication system, it is composed of glands that secrete oil (or sebum) to keep the protective coating from harsh external conditions. But most of us do need extra hydration after experiencing the damage of sunlight, weather and irritating chemicals to avoid harm to our skin. A good moisturizer can help your skin restore its water and oil balance. However, it should be noted that oily skin, dry skin or combination skin benefit from different types of moisturizers. Some people have oily skin, a thick moisturizer will feel sticky and may clog pores. Most experts recommend that the best time to apply a moisturizer is when the skin is still damp, so the sooner you apply the serum and treatment, the sooner you can use the moisturizer to lock in the much-needed moisture.

Step 6: Partial treatment
If you want to use any medicine or product to treat acne, pigment, etc. spots. We recommend using spot treatment drugs or products in the final step. This has two advantages. First, you will not apply large areas of drugs or products that may cause skin irritation. Secondly, some drugs or products are better absorbed after the skin is fully hydrated with the moisturizer in front of it. However, when you use any medicine, you should always follow your doctor's advice.

Step 7: Sunscreen
Regardless of whether you use physical or chemical sunscreen, sunscreen should be the last step in your daytime skin care routine, and its role is to physically block UV rays. Sunscreens can contain physical sunscreens such as zinc and titanium oxide. They prevent the absorption of other ingredients. If you prefer chemical sunscreens, try to find a formula that also has moisturizing effects, so that you can get UV protection while moisturizing daily.

3. How to nighttime skin care?

Since your skin will repair itself at night, your night care should be an efficient repair and provide what your skin needs. If your skin looks dull, you can exfoliate. If the skin is irritated, it can deeply moisturize and repair. You will find that the following skin care routines will help you fully grasp the golden repair time at night to effectively improve your skin:

Step 1: Cleanser
In order to remove dirt, grease and makeup, some experts recommend using a special makeup remover to remove makeup first, and then use a mild cleanser to wash your face.

Step 2: Toner, serum and primer
If you use toner, apply it like the morning. At night, some people also like to apply various types of high-permeability skin care products, such as sprays, essences, beauty lotions or moisturizing (hyaluronic acid) essences. These are infused with different active ingredients, but in most cases, the main purpose is to moisturize and nourish the skin. Since these are light-weight, almost water-like formulas; apply them like toner after washing your face. If you use both, apply toner first, then essence. Toner is to balance the pH of the skin and prepare for the next skin care.

Step 3: Eye Cream
In addition to solving the problems of crow's feet and dark circles, the eye cream can also protect the delicate eye area from other skin care products. Generally, it is recommended to apply eye cream before skin care to protect the eye area from powerful ingredients that may cause irritation.

Step 4: Moisturizer or night cream
Some people use the same moisturizer during the day and night. However, night moisturizers or night creams are usually thicker and are designed to be absorbed within a few hours. Moisturizers, especially those used at night, will form a protective film on your skin to prevent moisture from evaporating while you sleep. Maintaining high moisture in the skin is the key to healing and keeping the skin healthy. If you use the right moisturizer, this should be your last step, because nothing can pass through it. If your skin is dry, you may need to add essential oils before applying night cream.

4. Will the product expire?

The law does not require cosmetics to have a shelf life. However, if the cosmetics are stored in the wrong way, the cosmetics may deteriorate. For example, store in a place that is too hot or too humid. When opening the cosmetics, mark the opening date on the container, which can help you to know the useful life of the cosmetics more clearly.

5. After washing my face, how long do I have to wait before applying moisturizing products?

After washing your face, you do not need to dry your skin thoroughly. On the contrary, keeping your face moisturized can better absorb the moisturizing essence in the following steps. Therefore, quickly moisturize the skin within three seconds after washing your face. Even if you can't apply moisturizer within 3 seconds, apply it within 1 minute. There is no need to dry the face completely before applying toner, moisturizer or serum.

6. Should I wash my face with cold water?

Cold water helps prevent pores from getting bigger, but it cannot effectively remove residual makeup and dirt. Although hot water has a better cleansing effect, it also excessively removes skin sebum and reduces the skin's moisturizing barrier function. Therefore, try to wash your face with warm water (about 25 degrees Celsius) that matches your body temperature, then wash your face with cleansing products, and then rinse with cold water to shrink clean pores and make your skin firm, white and smooth.

7. How to choose a cleanser?

Based on experience, we should know our skin type to choose facial cleanser. Skin can be divided into the following types: oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, combination skin, and neutral skin. In general:

1) Oily skin-Oil - control cleansing milk is more suitable. It deeply cleanses the pores and helps regulate oil secretion without making your face dry.

2) Dry skin - need a moisturizing (preferably soap-free) cleanser that can remove dirt without stripping the skin's natural oils.

3) Sensitive skin - a cleanser with dense, creamy foam and soothing ingredients is needed. The cleanser should provide a balanced pH. You can use pH-adjusting toner after washing your face.

4) Combination skin - the most challenging. Its cleanser should strike a balance between thorough cleansing and healthy hydration. An ideal facial cleanser can protect the skin's lipid barrier, and lock in natural moisture while cleaning the surface oil.
